Need a Great Resume? Here’s How To Do It

There’s a lot of debate on social media as to whether resumes are still important or a thing of the past. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if in a few short years from now resumes are completely replaced by LinkedIn profiles or some other format on social media. But for now, resumes are still very important to companies and hiring managers when applying for positions, interviewing, and even networking with potential hiring contacts. For human resource teams, it continues to be an integral part of the applicant tracking process and is a key document in a new hire’s employee file.

I highly recommend hiring an experienced resume writer if you’re launching a job search after several years without updating your resume. They’ll have the expertise of knowing the most current guidelines for resume formats, and they’ll be a great resource for helping you sort through what to showcase and what to leave out.

For some people the cost of a really good resume writer may not be in the budget. If that’s the case, take a few minutes to watch this video from Justin Gmosner of Business Insider and Amanda Augustine of Topresume.

This is the best summary you’ll find online for the do-it-yourself resume.
