Ever feel like your job search isn’t worth the time?
You’re doing all the things — scouring job boards, applying for roles, waiting for replies that never come, commenting on LinkedIn posts, updating your profile, and on and on — wondering if any of it matters.
You’re not alone.
Here are three things you can do today that won’t feel like a drain on your soul.
1. Reconnect with Someone You Already Know
Send a simple, two-sentence message:
“Wow, it’s been a long time — how are you?”
Reach out to a former colleague, classmate, or mentor. Sometimes opportunities come from conversations with people you already know, like, and trust.
It doesn’t have to be strategic. It just has to be genuine.
2. Research Your Dream Companies
Spend 30 minutes exploring 2–3 organizations you’d love to work for, even if they’re not hiring today.
Check out the “Life” tab on their LinkedIn page to learn more about what it’s like to work there. Pay attention to their culture, values, and the kind of roles they typically post.
Add them to your target list so you’re ready when opportunities open.
Being proactive builds clarity, and clarity builds confidence.
3. Show Support
Leave a thoughtful comment or share encouragement on 2–3 posts from people in your field (not necessarily your direct connections).
Staying visible and supportive often leads to unexpected opportunities.
Professional relationships grow through consistent engagement, not just job applications.
Your effort is worth it.
The results may not come today. But every small step builds connections, clarity, and momentum. Bringing you closer to the right opportunity.
Keep going.
